In Conservation

As you assess your commitment to DU or any other conservation group, or as you approach others to do the same, consider asking the following questions:

Has your conservation Organization…

  • Gained the support of more than 1 million people?
  • Maintained its historic commitment to conservation and waterfowl hunting?
  • Rallied a force of 70,000 unpaid fundraising volunteers?
  • Delivered on-the-ground habitat conservation work for more than 65 years?
  • Conserved almost 11 million acres of wetlands and other wildlife habitat?
  • Regularly spent more than 83 percent of its revenue on conservation?
  • Developed an international strategic conservation plan based on the most up-to-date science?
  • Assembled a staff of conservation professionals that includes the world’s leading authorities on waterfowl, wetlands, and environmental engineering?
  • Delivered its conservation work in a cooperative, non-confrontational manner with a myriad of partners, especially private landowners?
  • Played a leadership role to secure vital programs like CRP and WRP?
  • Been described by the President of the United States as “the model by which consercation should be delivered in America ?”
  • Maintained a youth program that includes hunting education, duck banding, bird ID, classroom curricula, and conservation?
  • Been endorsed through hundreds of consumer products cobranded with prominent partners?
  • Produced a bimonthly magazine; a weekly television show; a daily radio program; and a nationally recognized website, all of which celebrate waterfowl hunting and conservation?

If you are a DU Member, all the answers are YES!
